The Need to Know with Stephan Zimmermann

Aug 26, 2019

Today’s guest on the podcast is Dave Dahl, founder of Daves Killer Bread. Dave has one of the most interesting and inspiring narratives of the power of people to change and grow in their lives that I have ever heard of. Rebelling at a young age and in an out of prison until the age of 38, the first part of Daves chapter seemed anything but a typical success story. He was headed nowhere fast, when he realized that he wanted more out of life, and wanted to make a difference in the world. Being released from prison in 2004, Dave rejoined the family bakery with his brother Glenn and quickly started pouring his heart and soul into it. Setting out to make the best loaf of bread possible, Dave created his now-infamous Daves Killer Bread, which became an immediate hit in the local Portland community and beyond. Still having dealt with his fair share of demons along the way, Dave was able to go from being in prison to selling his company for $275 million in just over a decade. Not being an active part of the company anymore, Dave now devotes his time to pursuing his passions, giving back to the community and spreading his redemption story.
