The Need to Know with Stephan Zimmermann

Jan 28, 2020

Hey guys and welcome back to another episode of The Need to Know podcast. Thank you guys so much for taking the time out of your week, to learn and grow with me and hear from some of the top performers in the world in a wide range of fields. I've thoroughly been enjoying the ability to speak and meet with my amazing guests and hope that you have enjoyed it as well! If you have been enjoying these episodes, I would love it if you took a few seconds to go to the iTunes store to rate my podcast as that would mean so much to me!

Today's guest on the podcast is comedian, podcast host and television personality, Paul Gilmartin. As someone who had seemingly done exactly what he set out to do when he studied theater in college and became the host of the TBS's Dinner and a Movie, Paul felt himself battling with his demons and at the height of his depression. Fighting through battles with addiction and depression, Paul felt exhausted and sought help in the form of therapy and support groups to become sober and lead a better life. Now, 16 years sober, Paul has turned his attention to helping others who are fighting their own battles and started the Mental Illness Happy Hour where each week he interviews people who have had similar struggles in their lives to create a conversation around mental health in the hope that it will help and inspire others. As he likes to say, however, his podcast is not a substitute for professional help but rather a waiting room that doesn't suck.

In today's discussion with Paul, we discuss his early life and childhood and how that affected him later on in his life, his struggles with depression and addiction and the ways in which he sought help, the lessons that he has learned throughout the years and how it can help others and much more.

Super excited to share this with you and hope that you will enjoy it!
