Hey guys and welcome to episode one of “The Need to Know” with
yours truly, Stephan Zimmermann.
My goal with this show and the conversations had here is to
interview some of the top performers in the world in a wide range
of fields and give you actionable advice, techniques, and mindsets
that you can apply directly to your life and use to build the life
of your dreams. Whether it be ultra-endurance athletes,
award-winning authors, business wizards or spiritual gurus, I want
this podcast to be something where everyone can relate to and gain
knowledge from.
My first guest on the podcast is Ryan Lange. Born
in Medford NJ, Ryan is an ultrarunner, bowhunter, and
music festival enthusiast who loves to find diverse ways to push
his body and mind to the limit. Ryan began searching for extreme
outdoor activities when he was unhappy with his physical
well-being. Tipping the scales at 235 pounds back in 2014, Ryan
began running far distances in 2016 and was able to lose 55 pounds
as a result. Quickly falling in love with the sport, Ryan began to
increase his training and run his first marathon only 4 months
after starting to run. From there, the momentum kept going and Ryan
was soon running 50k’s, 100 milers, and even a 240 mile race in
Utah where he was the 25th out of 127 to finish the race and became
the youngest person ever to complete a race over 200
miles.
Freshly off of yet another ultra marathon, the Tahoe 200, Ryan
joined me on the podcast where we discussed his experiences during
that race, how and why he fell in love with running, the mental
framework that he has established that has allowed him to
accomplish such amazing feats, and much more.
